Gas Furnaces

To Use This Chart:

  1. Determine the AFUE/SEER of your current system.
  2. From the map determine the zone you live in, enter the table and cross reference your zone with the AFUE/SEER of your current system to determine your approximate annual heating/cooling costs.
  3. Compare your annual heating/cooling costs to that of a new system with a higher AFUE/SEER.

Costs in the chart are based on a 50,000 BTUH design heating requirement using an average fuel rate of $0.626 per therm and a nominal 3-ton air conditioner using an average electrical rate of $0.0860 per kilowat-hour. *The Plus 90i and Plus 80 Variable Speed improve air conditiner efficiency, allowing a 12 SEER system to operate as efficiently as a 13 SEER system. “Heating” and “Cooling” figures shown include costs for cycled fan operation. “Fan” figures shown are additional costs for continuous fan operation.

To Use This Chart:

  1. Use the map to locate the zone where you live.
  2. Determine the SEER/HSPF of your current system. Typically, >10 years old = 6.0 SEER/5.0 HSPF, 5-10 years old = 8.0 SEER/5.6 HSPF, <5 years old = 10.0 SEER/7.0 HSPF
  3. Using the chart, cross reference your current SEER/HSPF with your color to determine your approximate annual cooling/heating cost. 4. Compare your annual cooling/heating cost to that of a new system with higher SEER/HSPF.
